Try Not To Diet

Having a baby is stressful enough and you do not want to add more stress by dieting.  Don’t deprive yourself of your favorite foods otherwise you may actually end up gaining weight.  Instead, eat healthy and nutritious foods.  You need extra energy and calories to take care of your baby.

This is true especially if you are breastfeeding.  Keep a variety of nutritious foods such as wheat crackers, apples and carrot sticks in the house so you’ll have something good to snack on when you feel hungry.  When it comes to food your focus should be on nutrition, not weight loss.

In addition to cardio workouts you must also do exercises to strengthen your core.  Pregnancy can weaken your abs and pelvic floor.  Once your doctor has cleared you for exercise, you can start working on your abs muscles and pelvis.

You can do crunches, pelvic tilts, ball crunches, Kegel crunches, back extensions and other core strength exercises.  Your abs will need some “babying” as they may have weakened during pregnancy.
